Mr Forbes investigated all options for heating the three properties in an environmentally friendly and cost efficient way. Although ground source heating was considered, Mr Forbes felt it had several disadvantages in that the initial outlay was considerably more than air source, the bore holes were very expensive to drill, companies offering this type of heating were not guaranteeing the work because they were not aware of the geology of the pump site and, if the system went wrong, it would be significantly more expensive to deal with if the actual pump needed to be accessed.

For the sake of completeness and comparison, three quotes were obtained but Mr Forbes regularly uses EOC Services air conditioning services for commercial projects and so they were the obvious choice to install the three air source heat pumps.

All three properties were rented out and Mr Forbes has found that his tenants thoroughly approve of the air source heating which heats downstairs via underfloor heating, upstairs by radiator and also heats their hot water.

At least a 40% reduction has been noted for running costs and the sheer fact that the properties were heated by an air source pump has meant Mr Forbes could garner a higher rental fee.
