Air Conditioning Unit Not Working? Make these simple checks before calling a service engineer...

The air conditioner cannot be operated. |
Is the power supply turned on, indoors and outdoors? Is the fuse blown? Is the timer set to off? Is the trip switched off? Are the batteries exhausted? |

Unit is not cooling or heating sufficiently. |
Is the mode set to cool or heat? Is the temperature set correctly? Is the air filter dirty? Is the outlet of the outdoor unit blocked off? |

No display on remote controller screen. |
Are the batteries exhausted? Is the polarity of the batteries correct? |
The following are all normal to the daily operation of your air conditioner and are not cause for concern...
- The air conditioner will not operate for 3 minutes after restart
- Cracking sound is heard due to expansion of materials
- The fan stops for a short while in dry mode
- The unit makes a sound like water flowing
- The air flow vane changes direction on its own sometimes
- Water leaks from the outdoor unit
- In heating mode the unit does not blow out air as quickly as when cooling
- In heating the unit stops operating for about 10 minutes
- On occasion a hissing sound comes from the unit, when unit is set to cooling or heating
- When the unit has achieved temperature it will recycle the air until required to heat or cool again
